I'll have to do a round-up of the money raised at trackdays as a project. The chunks of money are never insignificant and passengers always get so much pleasure from it.
Track days aren't the cheapest way of driving the car, nor is it always easy to get a place so to willingly take on a load of ballast to slow the car down and adversely affect handling just for a NtL donation is pretty damned fine eh?

Peter Truman gave a Super 7 nose badge to Guy Boulton for a donation 5.00

  £172,875.92

Thanks to A. Knowles and James Arnold for replacing the out of date cheques for the 7 Club Nokia phone logos already counted in last years total - and for topping up the amount! Any chance I. Thompson £5, Mrs. A. E. Howley £5, E. C. Downer £5 & Dr. Robert Mason £5 could too? Cheers!

And just look at this fine bunch of fundraisers:

2004 Results so far:

Mark Powling knocked 40 minutes off his previous best time for the 2004 London Marathon and finished in 4 hours 29 minutes and 41 seconds. Well-done Mark, brilliant job!  Come on now get those forms filled in and winging their way to Mark please.

..oo00oo..

Dave Jackson will have pedalled his way from Land's End to John O'Groats by the time you read this and might have recovered! However as they say the jobs not done until the paperwork's finished so I trust you have all ensured there has been a pile of completed sponsor forms dropping on his mat to rustle about and complete?

..oo00oo..

Steve Cragg is on a Blatchat no-smoking sponsor attempt - 6 weeks so far and already a superb £1200 pledged so why not join in the fun on:

2004 events:

Doing any club events this year? Got a video camera?

Then we need your help! The club is producing a DVD of what you lot get up to in 2004 on the road, track and not forgetting the social aspect. It will go on sale in time for Christmas with all proceeds (Steve - or should that be profits?) going to Nuke the Leuk.

The DVD will include a 5-10 minute feature on each of the major events: trackdays, sprints/hillclimbs and Curborough, Stoneleigh, Spanish and Swiss trips, Le Mans, Baywatch, Rumble, Le Sept, Brooklands National Day, and the Caterham Festival.

To ensure a good mixture of footage we need several contributors for each lined up beforehand, who can then lend us their tapes (ideally DV format) for a day or two afterwards - most will be returned next day. For trackdays it is important that it's not JUST onboard footage. As previously there will also be a separate Le Sept DVD too

You're not shy are you?
For each segment we also need someone who was there to record a brief commentary track once the editing is complete. That should just take an evening or weekend afternoon and then you'll be famous!

To volunteer to submit footage of any club event that you will be attending this year or to step forward for commentary duties please contact Nick Addison on 01235 528728 or email nickaddison@btopenworld.com

*Stop Press* Norman Verona has found a sponsor who will donate a further £20 each to NtL for the first 60 club members volunteering to help. Come on lads, potentially another £1200 for NtL!! *Stop Press*

Norman is still looking for volunteers to assist with the South Yorkshire Police "Blue Light Show" on the 1st August in Barnsley. Come on chaps, its just one day and chance to show off your wee beastie to the grateful public! NtL stands to gain over £6,000 so it will be well worth the effort.

If we make a good showing this could be the start of an ongoing annual event and a nice bit of regular income for NtL without dipping into our own pockets for a change!

No worries about parking or leaving the car as Nick Henstock's team from the South Yorkshire area will be manning a club stand and 7 parking area.

Anyone who would like to join the fun, please contact Norman on 0870 735 0010 or email: norman@dmservices.co.uk

Dr. John Laycock's plans are taking shape and there is an event in the planning stage in the Midlands around mid September with Joyce House at LRF. Joyce is responsible for arranging an annual event involving sick children and their families. This takes the form of a trip/party with approximately 25 families involved. The objective is to provide a break from the 'care environment' and allow families to share experiences in a party atmosphere. So far there are 14 cars pledged.

Email John on doctorjohn@laycock.com to pledge your car for the day.
You may recall John is intending to organise more OFRacing charity days in 2004 but rather than selling passenger seats for donations he would like to donate the seats to children who are or have been suffering from leukaemia or related illnesses to assist with their recovery by giving them something different to look forward to.

Volunteers contact John on: doctorjohn@laycock.com.

Jan Smit's plans for his Netherlands to Santiago de Compostella bike ride for NtL in June/July (a round trip of 5400 kms in 8 weeks!) is taking shape and support is building. Club member Mike Chadwick is really going for it with a pledge for £250 and with the others from friends, local business and club members brings pledges so far to £1712.

Please get the sponsor forms out to work colleagues, friends and family and build on the support for Jan's trip. See http://www.westernfront.nl/lrf2004. Join the fun on: http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?Id=54248

To enable LRF to be tax efficient, use a Gift Aid form.
Gift Aid forms can be downloaded from her
the Adobe Acrobat reader can be downloaded from here

It's an amazing amount of donations that come from the goodwill between club members offering help, advice, parts and assistance to each other from a huge wealth of experience and knowledge. A benefit that is totally unexpected when filling out a club membership form and then getting involved. Maybe we should have a warning on the form to the effect that membership to the Lotus 7 Club of GB is likely to change your life - forever! All for the love of these funny wee beasties eh!

..oo00oo..

Under Gift Aid LRF can claim tax back on any donation, large or small, providing you are a UK taxpayer. This means that at no cost to you they are able to claim back 28p for every £1 you give providing you pay income tax or capital gains tax to cover the amount they reclaim.

If you pay tax at a higher rate, you can claim further tax relief on your Self Assessment tax return.

LRF promise "If you wish, we guarantee not to use your details for any other purpose other than to reclaim tax on your donation. We won't pass them on to anyone else, send you newsletters or appeal letters - you won't hear from us again unless you want to. By agreeing to allow us to gift aid your donation, you'll be helping to increase it by nearly a third, without any extra cost to yourself, and with our low running costs, this will go straight into research. Thanks."

And just to brighten up your pc screen surround or anything else that annoys you, get some Blatchat stickers from Barbara Swift on B.Swift@btopenworld.com. Profits to NtL.
