CAN YOU HELP NTL EARN £5000?
The Lotus 7 Club
is being given the opportunity to earn up to £5000 for NtL.
Club member Norman Verona, is on the committee of the South Yorkshire Police
"Blue Light Show" taking in place in Barnsley and is asking the club to provide
people to run the gates/car parks and the food hall.
If we can provide around 50 people for Sunday 1st
August 2004 then NtL will get
the profits from the food and the first £2000 taken on the gates & car parks.
There would also be an area at the show for the Club and a local team is
required to host this on behalf of the club.
The 2003 show attracted 15,000 members of the public, volunteers
need only turn up, get a 10 minute briefing and work under the supervision of
the management team. Norman is intending to arrange onsite camping on the
Saturday night for those from afar and a BBQ for all volunteers. For the hooded
and windscreened volunteers no doubt B&B can be arranged!
It's a great way to give the Club's efforts for Ntl a
big shot in the arm and a great opportunity to get involved in a worthy cause
and of course display your car.

Staffs area, Nick Chan, Photo Shoot: "We held a similar event to
the August photo session, in Stoke-on-Trent today.
As the photographer waived his normal session setting up fee, each driver
donated £5 towards NTL funds. The five cars photographed today were: Ian
Buck-Barrett, Dave Jackson, Adrian Ryalls, Nick
Chan and Gareth Lester-Jones
In addition, Paul (photographer of Paolo Loraso
Photography) also donated £10 towards the charity funds and has
also offered a free family photo session to
be a prize for charity funds as well. I will discuss with him
how best this is to be used and when we might make it available as a
raffle etc. A cheque is on its way for £25 with cheques being sent direct
from Adrian and Ian themselves.
We are holding two similar sessions in March (Sunday 7th and 14th)
when rebuilds, road fund licences and road conditions allow and I expect
another 12 cars or so to help swell NTL funds. I'll renew the Blatchat
thread come the time and see who else wants to come along. Have a great
Christmas and keep up the good work."

2004 news,
'Nifty' Styles will be running the London Marathon for NtL after a year's
sabbatical from the event following injury. Sponsor forms will be available
shortly.
Many, many thanks for all the cards and kind thoughts this Christmas, and for
everyone's generosity throughout the years. Damned fine people you all are. This
job really is a privilege and gives me so much pride and pleasure to be able to
represent the Club on your behalf with the Leukaemia Research Fund. Thank you.

It's an amazing
amount of donations that come from the goodwill between club members offering
help, advice, parts and assistance to each other from a huge wealth of
experience and knowledge. A benefit that is totally unexpected when filling out
a club membership form and then getting involved. Maybe we should have a warning
on the form to the effect that membership to the Lotus 7 Club of GB is likely to
change your life - forever! All for the love of these funny wee beasties eh!
