Recent member Alex Birtwisle has a story to tell of grit and determination: "In August 2001 my girlfriend's 18 year old brother (Russell) became seriously ill and was diagnosed with Leukaemia. In February he had a bone marrow transplant at Guy's & St Thomas's Hospital in London (my girlfriend, Rachael, being the donor). He is now out of hospital and is on the long road to recovery."I have a Caterham 7 (always wanted one as a child, got one in February!) My girlfriend and I became members of the Lotus 7 club when I purchased the car. You can imagine how delighted we were to find out the wonderful work the club does for the Leukaemia Research Fund. "If Russell's health continues to improve at the rate it is currently improving, we are intending to take him to Curborough on the 18th May. I was wondering if there is anything you or the Lotus 7 club could do to make his day that little bit more special?" No sooner said than done my friend, Alex Wong and Roger Swift will be only too happy to offer their passenger seats to Russell and I’m sure Arnie and Peter will be only too pleased to do the same!
