*STOP PRESS* ERROR IN LAST MONTHS REPORT – MY LEG OF THE QUEENS JUBILEE BATON RACE IS ON SATURDAY 22ND JUNE, NOT 22ND JULY *STOP PRESS*
Now here’s a chance to win a fantastic day out. Fluke Motorsport have teamed up with
BookaTrack.com to offer a fantastic day out at the Silverstone GP circuit with their 400bhp/tonne carbon fibre race-car.
They have opened a raffle where the winner will receive -
- 20 minutes with an instructor driving the race-car who will introduce you to the Silverstone GP circuit - talking you through racing lines, braking points and giving you a taste of the 3.1 miles driven by Schumacher, Coulthard and co just three weeks previously.
- 20 minutes tuition driving the race-car. With you in full control, the instructor will take you through the basics of lapping the Silverstone GP circuit safely and quickly.
- 20 minutes further tuition in the race-car. Once comfortable, the instructor will explain the finer points of safely piloting a 400bhp/tonne race-car around the full GP circuit at speed, pushing the car towards it's limits.
- 20 minutes "solo" driving in the race-car. You. The car. The circuit.
- 20 minutes "hot-lap" passenger ride in an R500. You will be passenger in the quickest production car in the world today. Driven at race speeds around the track so hold on!
- In-car video footage from the day's activities.
- Post-event telemetry analysis.
- Full event support - pit mechanics, session debriefing and handling advice.
- Fluke Motorsport team polo shirt
The raffle is open to anyone over 18 with a full driving license and you'll receive over an hour of driving the sequential boxed, carbon clad race-car, taught by a professional (the instructor is from the BTCC Touring Car Series), a ride in the fastest production car on the planet, full mechanical/emotional support and in-car video footage of your driving, surely that's worth £5?
The full details of the raffle and how to enter can be found at www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/silverstoneraffle.html This is a one-off fund-raiser for NTL and their Barbados Rally Carnival entry and is unlikely to be offered again!
10% of each ticket will be donated to NTL and Fluke Motorsport are happy to offer high-speed passenger rides in the R500 around the GP circuit for a donation to NTL.
And that’s not all!! BookaTrack.com will donate £5 to NtL every time a club member books one of their track or airfield days. In fact they have already started at their recent Llandow track day and £40 is winging its way to me as I type this! Brilliant!
Now you have your wallets out, don’t forget Redline Components are offering Caterham interactive parts CD’s for a fiver each. The balance after post and packing of around £1.50 will be donated to NtL.
And that’s not all!! We’ve still got the Clash of the Titans between Arnie Webb’s Vauxhall and Peter Carmichael’s Super K at Curborough Sprint on the 18th May, where pledges are running at over £3260 to see the both of them go head to head. Better get a few extra sausages in Barbara, for the BBQ. (For some reason that doesn’t read the way I said it!! Arf!! But hey, she’s cool about innuendo!)
It just gets better and better eh; maybe this year we will crack £20K for NtL!
