21st International - Stoneleigh 2003

You should all know by now that the Seven Club 21st International event is early this year, yes it's on May bank holiday weekend Sunday 4th & Monday 5th May at Stoneleigh coinciding with the National Kit Car Motor Show.

We have received a good response from our overseas members; a considerable number have arranged to visit in May, Hotels are now filling up and it’s beginning to Roll!  Your January Low Flying. contained your Booking and Accommodation forms, Stoneleigh is a popular event, fill them in and send them off now so you don’t miss out. There is a lot of effort, time and club money going into the event so come and get your money's worth.

We don’t want to hear any whingeing from you home county boys that it is north of Watford Gap! There’s a Map so you shouldn’t get lost, for you tough northerners, come south to a warmer climate. We, the Warwickshire mob, “the rural squires” welcome you all with open arms to the action packed 21st International Happenings.

As you will have seen from January’s mag there is a long list of happenings, one that was not mentioned was that Caterham Cars will be supporting the Lotus Seven Club 21st International, and we have arranged for Caterham Cars to have a stand adjacent to our usual Club Stand (Plot 29), we welcome their support.

I can also confirm, by popular demand our Jazz Band will be returning to keep our feet tapping thought the weekend, if you prefer tapping that accelerator pedal it’s the Cotswold Blat for you, (put some flies in your teeth!) a Blat around some of the North Cotswold roads, or visit the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon.

Something else to bring to your attention, Colin Swinson (Warwickshire area organiser) will be running an Auction on the club stand, all proceeds for Nuke the Luke so bring something along to the auction, Seven memorabilia, small unusual items, unwanted unused 7 spare parts or any thing else.

Who will travel the furthest to reach Stoneleigh? Will it be you?

For those of you that come early Saturday, there will be loads to do as it is set up day, but after all that hard work we will finish off the day with a big BBQ, perhaps with a little light liquid refreshment!!

We are planning a photograph display of past Internationals, all 21 of them! I have photographs going back to Donington 1988, if you have got any before that date I would be most grateful if you would contact me. Looking back at some of these photographs, I wonder where some of the following 7’s are now. Q134 DPF. 087 DPF. 680 WML. N029 4850. EER 7. FR 125047. D997 TGO. J384 TPE. K2 JPE. G335 ATM.

Looking forward to seeing you all for the
BIG one in 2003.
