1.
The Lotus Seven Club
of Great Britain will organise Clubmans sprint meetings at Curborough,
near Lichfield, Staffs., The Motor Industry Research Association, Nuneaton,
Warks., and at Llandow Circuit near Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, as set
out below:
a.
Sunday 30th
April – Llandow
b.
Saturday 20th
May – Curborough 1 - two lap
c.
Saturday 5th
August – MIRA
d.
Sunday 27th
August – Curborough 2 – two lap
2.
The meetings will be
governed by the General Regulations of the Motor Sports Association Ltd
(incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the
FIA), these Supplementary Regulations, and any written instructions that
the organising club may issue for the events.
3.
MSA Permits have
been applied for and Permit Numbers will be advised in Final Instructions.
4.
The events are open
to all members of the Lotus Seven Club of Great Britain.
5.
All competitors must
produce a valid Competition Licence and Club Membership Card.
6.
All events are
qualifying rounds of the 2006 Lotus 7 Club Speed Championship.
7.
The programme of the
meetings will be confirmed in the Final Instructions but the basic format
and timings will be:
a.
Scrutineering starts
at 8.00 am
b.
Any competitor not
signed on by 10.30 am may be excluded
c.
Practice starts at
9.30 am
d.
First Timed Runs
start at 2.00 pm or earlier if possible.
8.
Particulars of the
courses are as follows:
a.
Curborough (double
lapper) is 1557 yards long and consists of a smooth tarmac surface with
left and right hand corners and a fast finishing straight.
b.
MIRA course
comprises part of the Dunlop Handling Circuit having a Dalugrip surface
with fast left bends and a right/left complex at just over half distance
leading to a straight and a final left hand bend. Course length is
approximately 1860 yards.
c.
Llandow Sprint
course is run over 1.75 laps of the circuit. The length is approximately
2550 metres with an average width of 8m. There are a series of left and
right turns, two straights and a chicane. Shortly after the finish line
cars turn left into the paddock.
9.
ALL VEHICLES MUST
COMPLY WITH CURRENT MSA TECHNICAL REGULATIONS
10.
All cars will be of
the type known as Lotus or Caterham 7.
Cars may run with any type
of suspension, gearbox, axle/differential, wheels etc commonly fitted to
these vehicles.
All cars MUST be fitted
with a safety roll-over structure as Q.1. You are advised that the
traditional standard Caterham rollover bar does not meet these
requirements and will not be accepted.
All cars MUST be fitted
with a head restraint as L.10.1.3 and Q.13.
All cars MUST run with a
windscreen which can be of the ‘aero’ type or equivalent if required.
The classes will be as
follows:
Class 1:
Lotus or Caterham Sevens
powered by single cam engines up to 1600c.c.
Also Caterham Sevens which
fully comply with the current technical specification for the ‘2006
Caterham Graduates Championship’ – ‘Caterham Graduate Class’ and ‘Caterham
Super-Graduates Class’ specification cars only. Cars must fully meet the
specification relevant for engine type and year of construction. No
further modifications are permitted. For tyres see below.
For Ford OHV ‘Kent’
Crossflow 1600cc engines ONLY there is a maximum rebore allowance of 60
thousandths of an inch.
Tyres to be listed in 2005
or 2006 MSA Technical Regulations List 1A only.
Cars powered by non-car
derived engines or equipped with sequential gearboxes are not allowed in
this class.
Class 2:
Lotus or Caterham Sevens
powered by single cam engines of 1601cc and greater. All Lotus Twin Cam
engines and Rover K series 1400cc engines.
Rover K series 1600cc
engines - provided induction is via the standard production plenum.
Rover K series 1800cc
engines (up to 140bhp only) - provided induction is via the standard
production plenum.
This excludes all R300,
R400 and R500’s.
The following modifications
are permitted to Rover K series 1600cc engines: K16 cylinder head porting
retaining the standard valves, vernier camshaft pulleys, 52mm throttle
body and the use of forged pistons.
The following modifications
are PROHIBITED to Rover K series 1600cc engines: The use of VVC or VHPD
cylinder heads, reprogrammable ECUs eg Emerald, VVC plenum chambers and a
throttle body greater than 52mm.
The following modifications
are permitted to Rover K series 1800cc engines: vernier camshaft pulleys,
52mm throttle body and the use of forged pistons.
The following modifications
are PROHIBITED to Rover K series 1800cc engines: Any porting of the K16
cylinder head or the use of VVC or VHPD cylinder heads, reprogrammable
ECUs eg Emerald, VVC plenum chambers and a throttle body greater than
52mm.
Tyres to be listed in 2005
or 2006 MSA Technical Regulations List 1A only.
Cars powered by non-car
derived engines or equipped with sequential gearboxes are not allowed in
this class.
Class 3:
Lotus or Caterham Sevens
powered by single cam engines of 1601cc and greater. All Lotus Twin Cam
engines and Rover K 1400cc engines.
Rover K series 1600cc
engines - provided induction is via the standard production plenum.
Rover K series 1800cc

meeting the engine requirements of classes 1, 2 or 3.
Cars powered by non-car
derived engines are allowed in this class.
All cars must be fitted
with an operational reverse gear.
Tyres to be listed in 2005
or 2006 MSA Technical Regulations List 1A only.
Class 5:
Any Lotus or Caterham 7 not
meeting the engine requirements of classes 1, 2 or 3.
Cars powered by non-car
derived engines are allowed in this class.
All cars must be fitted

Tyres to be any road legal
E-marked tyre or listed in 2005 or 2006 MSA Technical Regulations List 1B.
Class 6:
Any Lotus or Caterham Seven not meeting
the requirements of any other class
Notes:
Cars in classes 1 to 5 must run
in a road legal condition (i.e. taxed, insured and
MOT’d where applicable). Competitors are
advised that they may be asked to provide documentary proof of this at an
event.
Classes 1 to 5 must have normally
aspirated engines.
Cars which have technical modifications
deemed by the Lotus 7 Club Competition Secretary net to meet the basic
spirit of the technical regulations will be allocated to the most
appropriate class.
11.
Number of Runs:
At all meetings it is the
intention to offer competitors two practice and at least two timed class
runs. All runs will be in strict programme order.
If due to unforeseen
circumstances it appears to the organisers that the published programme
cannot be adhered to then a revised programme will be announced.
If more than two timed runs
are possible then an announcement will be made before the end of the
second timed run.
12.
Awards which will be
presented at the end of each meeting will be as follows:
1st in Class –
An Award (subject to a minimum of 2 starters)
2nd in Class –
An Award (subject to a minimum of 5 starters)
3rd in Class –
An Award (subject to a minimum of 8 starters)
Fastest Lady – An Award
Fastest Lady Novice – An
Award
Fastest Gentleman Novice –
An Award
Fastest Time of the Day
(FTD) – An Award.
A novice for the purpose of
these awards is a competitor in their first season of motor speed events.
– Mark please check – this needs to be exactly the same wording as at the
bottom in Note 2 on the event entry forms. If you qualify as a novice
please mark this on the event Entry Form in order to be considered.
Th Fastest Lady Novice and
Fastest Gentleman Novice awards will be awarded based on a scoring system
as follows:
The competitor finishing
second in each class will be awarded 20 points. Each novice will be
awarded 20 points minus the time difference between them and the person
finishing in second place in their class.

The Fastest Lady Novice and
Fastest Gentleman Novice awards will be given to the novice with the
highest number of points across all classes.
13.
The maximum entry is
80 at Curborough, 130 at MIRA and 110 at Llandow. The minimum entry is 30.
Should the minimum entry not be reached the organisers reserve the right
to cancel the meeting. Entry fees will be refunded.
14.
The entry list opens
upon publication of the Entry Form for each event. Entries will be
accepted in order of receipt. The closing date for each event is fourteen
days before the event.
The entry fee is £65
(including VAT) for each competitor. Payment should be via cheque, made
payable to Seven Club Ltd. All entries must be on the Entry Form published
for each specific event. One Entry Form for each competitor. Entry fees
will not be banked until three weeks before an event. Entries cancelled
within fourteen days of the event and non starters will not be refunded.
Cancellations must be made in writing. Entries accompanied by post-dated
cheques will not be considered.
15.
The Secretary of the
Meeting will be as prescribed on each event Entry Form. All entries should
be sent to the appropriate Secretary of the Meeting with payment in full.
16.
Other officials will
be notified to competitors in the Final Instructions. Any other changes
will be notified on the meeting notice board.
17.
Provisional results
will be published as soon as possible following the end of each event. Any
protest must be lodged in accordance with MSA General Regulations section
O.
18.
Starting order will
be as shown in the programme. Cars will start singly. The starting signal
will be a green light which indicates that the driver may start IN HIS OWN
TIME. Method of timing will be electronic, activated by the vehicle
breaking a light beam. A timing strut in accordance with L10.9.1 is
required. A timing strut template can be provided upon request.
19.
At Curborough
competitors will have the opportunity to walk the course before practice,
and will be allowed two practice runs. At MIRA and Llandow there will be a
convoy run followed by two practice runs.
20.
Competitors will be
identified by competition numbers in accordance with L.9.2.5, which will
not be provided by the organisers.
21.
Marking and
penalties will be as printed in the appropriate section of the MSA General
Regulations except as modified below:
a.
L.9.5.4 If all four
wheels leave the tarmac surface, no time will be recorded
b.
L.9.6 The timekeeper
in charge at the start line shall be the Judge of Fact in respect of false
starts. At Llandow and Curborough the Chief Section Marshal at each post
will be the Judge of Fact in respect of a car leaving the course or taking
the wrong course. At MIRA the acting Course Controller at the Control
Tower will be the Judge of Fact in respect of a car leaving the course or
taking the wrong course.
22.
All other General
Regulations of the MSA apply as written.

23.
All vehicles must
comply with the silencing requirements of E.12.17 except that in the
interests of environmental protection all cars will be subject to a
maximum noise limit of 108dB at 0.5m. This will be tested.
24.
The use of any
external device or power source to pre-heat the tyres of a competing car,
whether the tyres are fitted to the car or not, is prohibited.
25.
No competing car may
leave the venue during an event without the permission of the Clerk of the
Course. Roadgoing cars must remove or cover competition numbers before
going on the public highway.
26.
Animals will not be
admitted to the Paddock or spectator areas.
27.
MIRA. Saturday is a
working day at MIRA. Hence there are special provisions for access to this
event which will be detailed in the Final Instructions. MIRA is a superb
competitor venue but it is not a general spectator site and there is no
overnight camping on site. For safety reasons children under 16 will not
be admitted to MIRA. No cameras (including mobile phones equipped with
cameras) are allowed on site at MIRA.
